Greece Class Culture Week

During Culture Week, Greece have completed many activities. We made BOUGATSA, a classic Greek dish, learnt about mythical creatures from Ancient Greece, studied Ancient Greek history, competed in a classic Greek Olympics and learnt the famous Greek Zorba dance!

Scrumdiddlyumtious!

The year one children had a wonderful time at their scrumdiddlyumtious cupcake picnic yesterday.  The picnic was the culmination of weeks of hard work.  The children started by writing a letter to Mr Denchfield asking for the money to buy ingredients for the cakes.  They wrote invitations to each other, remembering to use capital letters for proper nouns. They then designed their cakes, deciding on the flavour of the sponge and frosting and what they were going to decorate them with.  The children wrote lists to take to 'Little Lidl' where they used different coins to pay for the ingredients.  They also made some colourful bunting to adorn the trees in our outside area.  Finally, this week, the children became chefs and weighed the ingredients before baking their delicious cakes and decorating them, followed by their favourite part - eating them!
