Karate Champion

The Elves have been in our farm!
After checking our CCTV this morning we found that an Elf decided to try and steal some of our animals. But she gave up in the end and she was found asleep in the chicken coop by Mrs Rowton when she was letting the animals out for their breakfast.
Considerate Parking Campaign
Parking near schools is one of the biggest frustrations for residents around Havering. Considerate Parking is a campaign that aims to promote safe and considerate parking, encourage families to Park and Walk, have a Park Away Day or take part in the Parent Parking Promise.
We work in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) to help address the issues and improve parking in their local community. We also have a range of initiatives and resources to support our objective and promote the campaign.
Pupils have been promoting “Perfect Parking” through assemblies, lessons and by asking Mrs Smith to include comments in the newsletters.
With the help of the Havering Travel Plan team, the pupils have produced a banner for the main gate that highlights the need to avoid parking on the zig zag lines.

We need to stay off the yellow zig zags so that drivers can see the children as they cross the road into school. If people park there a child might get hit by a car.

Choir @ William Tamsley House
Our Mead Choir spread a little bit of Christmas cheer at the William Tamsley House Christmas lunch last week. Pupils from KS2 delighted residents with a rendition of songs from their festive concert.
However before that could get underway, there was the important business of singing 'Happy Birthday' to Brian.
It was a real surprise to have the children sing to me. It has made my day.
Residents were stunned by the quality of the singing and the vocal arrangements that the children had put together. When it was explained that a large number of these children had been winners at this year's Stratford Music Festival the audience weren't surprised.
Their singing was beautiful. I hadn't heard those Christmas songs before, but they were beautiful. Having them perform for our lunch is a real treat and it gives everyone plenty to chat about after they have gone. It was lovely.

It is part of our vision for the children, and our schools, to be an integral part of the community. Part of this is being very visible in the sheltered housing community. Many of our children's family and grandparents live in this accommodation, either in Harold Hill or around Havering. The feedback and response from residents is always extremely positive, and the children appreciate that a small gesture at this time of year makes a huge difference.

Lunchtime Encounters
Each lunchtime Mr Darcy and Betsy are coming out onto the hard standing area by KS1 to meet the pupils. This gives them the chance to get off the damp ground, and become more familiar with large groups of people.
Normally the children come armed with carrots and apples, so our two farm stars are very excited to see them! As you can see from the pictures, both the donkey and pony are getting on well in their new home. Previously they were underweight and looking rather worse for wear. Miss Rowton's care for them, and the love from the children, has quickly helped to improve their condition.

Donkey & Pony Move In!
It has been great to see our miniature pony and donkey move in before the start of the half term. Both animals have a very sad back story as they weren't treated well by their owners. Luckily they were rescued by the RSPCA and now they can come to a new home where the children will shower them with cuddles, carrots and love.
The donkey is about 5-10yrs old and the pony is just 6 months!

Ruby's Big Run
Congratulations to Ruby who is the proud owner of a shiny medal from her Big Blue Run.
It was really good fun. I managed to run all the way and I have raised some money for charity too
