Year 6 Spelling List

Year 6 - Spelling list - Autumn 2 - Week 5

Here are this weeks spellings...

The new spelling list is given to children each Friday. The children are asked to practise their spellings at home for 15 minutes each day. They can practise by putting the words into sentences this will help them to understand how to use each word in the correct contexts. We then encourage the children to use these words within their independent writing activities throughout the week.

Please remind children that their red spelling book should be returned to school each Friday so we can give the children their spellings for the following week.

Children will be tested on these spellings the following Friday.

St Lucia Class explore the library

St Lucia class were our third Reception class to visit the library so lots of excitement had built.
`I just love going to the library` said Joshua `There are so many books there.` The children listened very attentively to the librarian and enjoyed the story of Wibbly pig`s Christmas. Then it came to the highlight of the morning choosing a book to take back to school. Leo loved the finding Nemo book as he had the film at home . Daniel preferred the information books choosing one about prehistoric water creatures. Everybody was pleased with their choices and Lola said `I really want to come back again.`
As we walked back to school a lady looked at the behaviour of the children and said` They are absolutely adorable `.Another lady said` What well behaved children you should be very proud of them` We were they were a credit to the school.

Barbados Class visit the library

What a fantastic time Barbados class had visiting the library this morning! Upon arriving we were greeted by a librarin who told us about the library and all the different books that were on offer, Bogdan asked "Do you have books for parents to read?". The children were then read a lovely story  about Christmas before being able to choose a book they would like to read. There was a sea of smiling faces as they eagerly searched the book shelves for a book they wanted to share with their friends. "I like football" said Sumad, "Wow" said James upon seeing all the different books.

The children all walked beautifully to the library with some even helping the adults with road safety, Eleni commented "I'm looking both left and right". We had some tired legs by the time we got back to school but we all had a lovely time and look forward to reading the books we got to bring back with us.

Forest School Fun!

It is lovely to see that the children come along to sessions full of their own ideas of what they want to achieve by the end of the session now. Today saw woodland wind chimes and various other creations from pine cones and string, imaginative games, woodland seats and dens from tarps and natural materials. When asked to show how they had felt throughout the session a sea of smiles beamed back! Children are looking forward to their final session next Wednesday!
