Weekly Newsletter - 13/10/23

Friday 13th October 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

From Reading to Romans and everything in between, this week has been an adventure! Our week started with the Friends of Mead Movie Night which was a great success. A huge thank you to the Friends of Mead committee for organising and running the event. Year 2 visited the Library, Year 4 enjoyed a Roman Banquet as part of their History focus and Reception spent the day celebrating how Marvellous they all are! Don’t forget to have a look at everything we have been up to on our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/meadprimary/ .

Year 6 Secondary School Admissions

Parents and Carers with children in Year 6 must apply for a school place by Tuesday 31st October using this link https://www.eadmissions.org.uk/. If you don’t apply by this date your child will not be allocated a Secondary School. If you need support in applying for a school place, please contact the school and we will arrange a time to come in.

Appointments

We have seen an increase in Parents and Carers taking children out of school for routine appointments such as dental check ups. Please make sure that where possible appointments are made outside of the school day to avoid disruption to learning for the children.

Raising Concerns

Our priority is to ensure that any concerns are properly addressed for every individual pupil and family. If concerns are raised by groups or via anonymous complaints this can present us with extreme challenges and difficulties in resolving them successfully. As a school we believe wholeheartedly in working in partnership with our community and that addressing concerns openly and transparently allows us to arrive at far better outcomes and improved solutions and support for our individual pupils.

We have a clear process set out in our complaints procedure about how to share any concerns you may have with the school. The first step is an informal stage and we would encourage you to schedule a meeting with your child's teacher in the first instance. This will provide an opportunity for you to share your concerns and for the teacher to give you feedback or share further context. If you would like to speak to the teacher with another member of staff present, the Year Group Leaders are available to support. If the issue persists, please make an appointment to speak to the Year Group Leader, Assistant Headteacher or Headteacher.

Parents Evenings

We are looking forward to sharing all of the wonderful things your children have been learning with you during parents evening on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th October. If you are unable to attend your parents evening appointment please let your child’s teacher know in advance where possible. All KS2 appointments will be held in the dining hall.

Abacus-After School Club

Due to Parents Evening next week Abacus Afterschool club will be based in the year three block on Tuesday 17th October and Wednesday 18th October.

Collection will also be outside of the year three block which is alongside the dining hall.
