Weekly Newsletter - 2nd October 2020

Dear Parents,

Our reception children are all now settled in school and our nursery children are getting used to new routines. After such a long break it is lovely to see our children happily settled back into school and working hard.

Reminder
Please have some consideration and DO NOT park across our neighbours drives. I appreciate parking in Amersham Rd is difficult but there is plenty of parking in Central park which is only a very short walk away from school.

Pupil Premium
For every pupil who is eligible for Free School Meals, our school receives extra funding. Even KS1 children who receive Universal Free School Meals may still be eligible for this funding. If your child is eligible for this funding you would also receive:

-£40 voucher per child, per year to assist with the cost of school uniform redeemable at Premier Schoolwear.
-Assistance with contributions towards school trips and residential visits.

If you are in receipt of one of the following you are eligible. Please call the school office and speak to Mrs.Parker .

-Income Support
-Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance
-Income related employment and support allowance
-Child Tax Credit (but not Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of less that £16,190)
-Support under part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999
-Working Tax Credit run-on-paid for for weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
-Universal Credit (your household income must be less than £7,400 a year after tax and not including any benefits you recieve.)

If it is confirmed that your child is entitled to free school meals, they will remain eligible until they finish this phase of schooling (primary) they are in on 31st March 2022. There will be no need to inform the school or council if your personal circumstances change.

Infant Free School Meals
Regardless of benefits or household earnings your child will receive free school meals if they are in:
Reception, year 1 or year 2

All infant age children will receive free school dinners, however, it is still worth notifying us if you meet the above criteria. Also, if it is known that your child is eligible while in infant classes, they will continue to receive free school meals after they have left year 2 even if by then your personal circumstances have changed.

If you are eligible for free school meals please apply online:
https://www.havering.gov.uk/info/20006/schools_and_edication/431/school_support
or call the school office on 01708 343616 and speak to a member of the office staff.

Autumn Term Parent Consultation Evening - Monday 12th - Thursday 22nd October

Before half term we normally invite you into school to meet with your child’s class teacher and provide you with their pupil passport. The pupil passport gives you the end of year expectations for your child’s current year group. At the February parents meeting we will give you an update on the progress towards these targets. In the summer term you will receive a written report from your child’s class teacher.
Due to the current situation we cannot invite you into school for a parent consultation, however we will be carrying out these meetings via telephone. Each year group has been allocated a date and we invite parents to inform us if they would like a phone call before 5 or after 5, we will endeavour to meet all preferences but please be aware this may not always be possible. Selections will begin on Friday 2nd October and the deadline for these requests is on Tuesday 6th October. Your appointment time and pupil passport will be sent home on Thursday 8th October. Parent telephone calls will take place on the following dates;

Tuesday 13th October - Reception
Wednesday 14th October - Year 3
Thursday 15th October - Year 1
Monday 19th October - Year 2
Tuesday 20th October - Year 4
Wednesday 21st October - Year 5
Thursday 22nd October - Year 6
Please inform us of your preference here

Year 6 Parents - 31st October 2020
The deadline for applying for secondary school places is fast approaching. Please ensure that you have registered for an online account and applied for a secondary place before this date. If you require any assistance call and speak to Mrs Kinchella.

Havering Catering Services
I am pleased to advise that as of Monday we will be offering hot food choices-I think this is especially important as we approach the colder months.
Week beginning Monday 5th October is week 3 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.25. The menu can be accessed here (it says infant school but is the menu for both infants and juniors).
Please be reminded to top up your child’s catering account as we cannot provide dinners for pupils whose accounts exceed a debt of £10.
