Children in year 4 are learning about rests in music. They found that rests are important to provide spaces and allow the listener to absorb each musical phrase before the next one starts. They can easily add rests to rhythm patterns and clap them. Watch Germany class playing an African rock game called Obwisana.

Judaism in year 3
Year 3 have began their RE lessons. We have started to learn all about Judaism. This week we looked at how the Shema is one of the most important Jewish Prayers. Shema means to hear or listen. After finding out that the Shema can be found inside a Mezuzah we designed our own Mezuzahs.

Dear Parents and Carers,
A huge welcome to our new Reception children and families who have started full time this week. The children have settled extremely well and had a great start to their school journey. The children in KS1 have started their Read Write Inc groups this week. They have been very good role models of the Mead Creed by showing that they are READY to learn. In KS2 the children have been working on their handwriting and presentation and they have got off to a flying start! Well done to you all. Don’t forget to look at our blog or Facebook page to see more of what has been going on in school this week.
Home Reading Books
We are excited to share that all children will be bringing home a reading book from the class or school library. Reading is an essential skill, and we aim to foster a love of books and reading in all our children. Children who are in a Read Write Inc group will bring home a corresponding coloured book that matches their reading level, which they can read to an adult at home. For those children who have completed the Read Write Inc program, they are now classified as "free readers." This means they have the freedom to choose a book of their liking to read both to themselves and an adult. These books are appropriate for their age group, and we hope this will encourage them to read for enjoyment and explore a variety of genres. At Mead, we are dedicated to promoting a love of reading and encourage your support in this by helping your child read at home daily. Thank you for your continued support.
Reporting Absence
Please make sure that you inform the school of the reason for their child’s absence as soon as possible, ideally by 8-30am on each day of absence either by calling the school on 01708 343616 and press option 1 or emailing mail@mead.havering.sch.uk
If the school has not been notified by mid-morning of a child’s absence, we will contact you for more information. If no contact is made by the parent and the school cannot make contact with the contacts provided for the child, a home visit may be completed by school staff or the Attendance Service.

Egypt Finish Their Marble Jar!
Egypt Class have had an excellent start to year 2 - they have finished their marble jar already! To celebrate we went outside and had some fun on our scooters. Well done Egypt Class! 🏆
Y3 Music
This term, Year 3 children are learning about beat and rhythm in music. They are getting more confident in recognizing the notes and using rhythm notation consisting of semibreves, minims, crotchets and quavers. This week, they composed and performed their own patterns. Listen to the Northern Ireland class singing’’ Home is where the heart is’’ and playing an instrumental part.
