Weekly Newsletter- 19/11/21- Important Information

 

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has seen the children participate in activities around anti-bullying week. The children had the chance to watch and participate in the Pantomime show-Aladdin. The children laughed, sang and cheered the whole way through and it was wonderful to see how much the children and staff were enjoying themselves!

Bikes and Scooters

We have lots of children bringing their bikes and scooters into school. Unfortunately, we have had a report of a scooter that has gone missing from the KS2 playground which is similar to the one pictured. If anyone has any details about this we would appreciate your support in returning it to the owner. Please also be reminded that all scooters and bikes are left at your own risk and we would encourage all children to bring in a lock and chain to secure their bikes and scooters.

UMAKS Karate Club

If you are interested in your child joining the club, please contact Emma (07931326361). This club is held on a Thursday after school in the KS1 hall and is available to all ages.

Year Six Spellings

 

Here are the Year Six spellings for this week. First look look up the definition of each word. Then, use the paper sheet or the task on Google Classroom to write a sentence using each word. Pupils will be tested on Friday 26th November. Practise hard and good luck!

Last week- China class Attendance-opoly reward

Last week China Class earned themselves a treat as they beat their attendance target. Here we are playing on our bikes and scooters!

 

Year 3 - Trip to Epping Forest

Year 3  - Trip to Epping forest

This was a great school trip! The children spent half their day exploring what it was like to live in the Stone Age. They built structures in the woodland, explored Stone Age artifacts and used tools to light fires. The second half of the day was spent orienteering through time. The children had to use a map and locate various areas in the forest. They then had to use the clues that were given to them and answer questions based around different periods of time.

Dempcee said 'This is the best trip ever!'

Iziah said 'I loved lighting the fires!'

The children ate their lunch in a picnic area where they had time to discuss their day and play with their friends.

All the children were wonderfully behaved and it was a fabulous experience.

Well done Year 3!

Year 3 - Forest School - Week 3

Survival challenge with Year 3 is always a week full of fun, problem solving and teamwork. Today the group decided they would need to think about shelter, food, warmth, fire, comfort, staying clean, protection and entertainment. The pictures show what they achieved in a short space of time. They still had lots of ideas to work on but it was time to go home. We had seating areas, sleeping sections, fires, meatballs, leaves for comfort and weapons for protection. It was fantastic to see the groups listen to ideas shared and adapt or improve them. As they worked together ideas and conversations flowed. To finish each group showed us their work and their friends offered encouragements about what they thought worked best. Great job Year 3, if I need to spend a night in the woods I’ll be using your ideas.

KARATE CLASSES AT MEAD

  

We run a karate club at Mead Primary School every Thursday straight after school until 4.50pm.

Karate is for all ages from year one. During some lessons we also teach Jiu-Jitsu and Kobudo.

Our instructors are all fully qualified, insured, have enhanced DBS checks and first aid training, copies of which are held with the school.

All our classes adhere to the government Covid-19 guidelines, and school Covid-19 policy.


COSTS: For the first two taster lessons, the fee is £20, to see if your child likes Karate and wants to join.

If you do want to continue, the fee is £80 per half term to be paid at the start of each half term.

Year 3 - Remembrance Day Walk

Each year, Harold Hill holds a Remembrance Day Service and wreath laying ceremony. It takes place at the War Memorial at Hilldene shopping centre. On Thursday 11th, our Year 3 children walked walk over to Hilldene shopping centre and read a selection of their ‘Remembrance Day’ acrostic poems that they had been working on in the classroom.
